WELCOME TO THE MONON GREENWAY BRIDGE PROJECT SITE.
The Monon Greenway in central Indiana is one of the busiest pedestrian greenways in the United States and is utilized year round by residents of the City of Carmel and the surrounding communities.
The City of Carmel began this project with a vision for increasing the safety for pedestrians on the Monon Greenway and the motorists on Carmel Drive while doing so in a way that reflects the architectural design of the City of Carmel.
This project is going to serve not only as a grade separation for the users of the Monon Greenway but as a gateway into the heart of the City of Carmel.
This project includes the construction of a steel bowstring truss spanning Carmel Drive. The greenway will be elevated by retaining walls that stretch approximately 500 feet north and south of Carmel Drive. In addition, plazas will be provided under the bridge end spans providing users with rest areas as well as providing access to the greenway itself.
When completed, this project will provide Monon Greenway users with a new level of safety and uninterrupted usage of the greenway over Carmel Drive.
